Fairport Convention are sad to hear the news of the death of their friend John Shaw.
John was a Radio DJ and Presenter (and regular in the musicians X1 cricket team with Richard Thompson) who later turned his attention to cricket commentary for BBC Sport Online and BBC Radio Leicester.

The artist, designer, songwriter and record producer, Austin John Marshall has died in his sleep in his home in New York on Sunday, November 3.
Best-known as record producer on the classic albums by Shirley Collins, 'The Sweet Primroses', 'Anthems in Eden' (Shirley and Dolly Collins) and 'Love Death and The Lady' (Shirley and Dolly Collins) and Steve Ashley's debut album, 'Stroll On', Austin John also wrote the great anti-war song, 'The Whitsun Dance', made films of Jimi Hendrix and The Incredible String Band and wrote the folk-rock ballad opera, 'The Anonymous Smudge'.
