Woodford Halse tickets available!

As previously reported, due to the recent flooding, The Mill warm-up shows have moved to Woodford Halse Sports and Social Club.

The Social Club has an larger capacity than The Mill and so we are able to make more tickets available for these shows. Tickets are available from The Mill Box Office on 01295 279002.

Fairport Convention will be playing on the 5, 6 & 7 August with Jacqui McShee's Pentangle and Ashley Hutching's Rainbow Chasers playing 8 August. More...

As 2007 dawns (writes Chris Leslie), I have completed my tenth year in Fairport Convention. And wow, what an amazing time I've had so far!

It is great to be a part of something that I have followed and loved since my school days.

Fairport at 40 An essay by Nigel Schofield

It's forty years since Fairport first convened at a now legendary gig, a Mass Conversion, in North London (writes Nigel Schofield).

However, it would be inaccurate to say that they've "been together now for forty years....and it don't seem a day too long" because only Simon Nicol remains from the original band - the man after whose family home the band was named - and even he took time out.

In fact, there wasn't a truly consistent line-up of Fairport until years after the band officially broke up. But, as Simon has pointed out, Fairport Convention works more like a football team or a Northern Brass Band; the elements may change completely but the concept and the spirit remain.
